Exporting abundant catches can enhance Indonesian economy. To be able to export marine captures, traceability record of each capture is required. To meet this need, a fish catch tracing system is developed to aid fish catch transaction data recording and provide traceability information. In this study, the system was developed using IOTA, a distributed ledger technology that implement Tangle architecture. The results show that the developed fish catch traceability system is able to meet the functional requirements of register, combine, split, process, sell, and transfer fish catch packages. The system could also provide information on the aggregation of existing capture data to assist national statistical needs as well as providing complete and accurate fish traceability. There are two advantages of using IOTA in the system, i.e. decentralized system architecture and securely-stored and immutable transaction data which makes the data can be trusted by all parties involved in the fish supply chain. Nevertheless, the system architecture is not yet fully decentralized due to the presence of a coordinator that needs to be run on the IOTA system. In addition, the fish catch tracing system that has been developed using IOTA and IOTA MAM library assistance has a poor performance. Hence, it is not ready to be implemented and requires further exploration regarding development of fish catch tracing system using alternative technology besides IOTA MAM. text
