The sago production process produces several types of waste, one ofwhich is the waste of sago bark. The waste of sago bark from sago production produced more than 1 ton even during this pandemic. This waste is abundant and has negative impacts such as causing bad odors, polluting the environment and increasing the acidity of the soil. Sago processing is carried out on the riverbank with the aim that the waste can be directly disposed of into the river. Some of the waste is just piled up until it decompose. Worse yet, this waste does not have anyspecial treatment. In fact, according to research, sago stem bark has several advantages such as having more mechanical and physical strength than wood and others. Thisisof course can be an opportunity in the manufacture of products that are strong, environmentally friendly and have economic value. This research will conduct material experiments with various processing techniques such as bending, segmented, and assamble with weaving. At the end of the research, this sago bark will be processed into Secondary Packaging. The development of sago bark is expected to prevent the accumulation and disposal of waste in the river as well as an economic opportunity for the Luwu community. text |
