Vegetable oils is one of natural products containing high concentration of tocopherol and widely used for topical preparation. Tocopherol is a compound which inhibit free radical from damaging body cells, thus it has protected the skin from dryness, dullness, and wrinkle formation. A literature study was conducted to examine the effects of NLC formulation on vegetable oils?s;abili;?and antioxidant, anti-wrinkle, and skin brightening activity. The data sources were collected from free electronic journal and scientific articles databases namely PubMed and ScienceDirect. The study aimed to examine vegetable oils containing high content in tocopherol, determine the effects of NLC ;o ;he oil?s s;abili;?and topical activity, as well as determining the formulation safety for topical use. The data was collected by using inclusion, exclusion criteria, and data selection, then the data was extracted and analysed. Based on the data analysis, vegetable oils have exhibited good antioxidant, antiwrinkle, and skin brightening activity with high concentration of tocopherol and polyunsaturated fatty acid. The formulation of NLC has demonstrated good stability and an increase in ;he oil?s ac;i?i;??con;rib?;ed ;o e?cellen; ;opical permea;ion and absorp;ion, and indicated to be safe for skin. In order to obtain better attributes, the formulation should be optimized by selecting the right vegetable oils. Preparation using the mixture of some oils could be considered to acquire potentiation effects. Incorporation of NLC to gel formulation could be applicated to give better topical effect.
