UTILIZATION OF COFFEE GROUND WASTE AS MATERIAL FOR MAKING MODULAR ACOUSTIC PANEL USING MYSELIUM

The high demand for coffee has an impact on the growth of the coffee business industry, from coffee plantations to coffee shops (cafes). The year 2018-2019 is the peak of domestic coffee consumption. During this period, coffee consumption in Indonesia reached 4.8 million bags of coffee beans and it...

The year 2018-2019 is the peak of domestic coffee consumption. During this period, coffee consumption in Indonesia reached 4.8 million bags of coffee beans and it was noted that the number of coffee outlets increased 3 (three) times in the last three years. Besides that, with the large number of coffee consumption, the amount of coffee ground waste produced is also directly proportional to the amount of consumption. Discarded coffee grounds can be toxic to the environment because of the content of caffeine, tannins and polyphenols in it. Used coffee grounds are usually reused for used product materials such as masks, briquettes, compost and others. This study tries to find an alternative solution to the utilization of coffee grounds by exploring and processing coffee grounds into a use product, which is acoustic panels with a modular concept, which uses mycelium as the adhesive. text
