IMPLEMENTATION OF CRITICAL GAS RATE IN LIQUID LOADING WELL AND OPTIMIZATION ANALYSIS WITH ADEQUACY CHART
In gas wells, liquid loading takes place when the gas rate is not high enough to lift liquids (e.g. water and/or condensate) to the surface. The accumulation of the liquid in the wellbore will give additional backpressure to the formation which may lead to completely kill the well. The well produ...

In gas wells, liquid loading takes place when the gas rate is not high enough to lift
liquids (e.g. water and/or condensate) to the surface. The accumulation of the liquid
in the wellbore will give additional backpressure to the formation which may lead
to completely kill the well. The well production data history could be used to predict
the liquid loaded-up event as the well gas production declining.
In offshore operations, space are limited and operational cost typically high. A
Proper study for optimization selection is very essential. The selected project must
fulfill several requirements as follow: 1). Fit for purpose, 2). Low risk and
uncertainties and 3). Economic.
This paper will describe the pilot project and continuous improvement process of
lowering pressure effort to optimize liquid loading well using wellhead compressor
and temporary separator. This paper will also describe about the implementation
of critical gas rate to predict the liquid loading event from the well production
history.
A new analysis method utilizing the Adequacy Chart was proposed to verify the
suitability of the available lowering pressure system unit available in the market
with the well candidates.
Adequacy chart was constructed from of well deliverability, critical gas rate and
lowering pressure unit or system capacity. The combination of those three charts
will generate an overlapping area which mean that the area is the suitable
recommended operating area.
Critical gas rate analysis combined with decline analysis could be used to predict
when the well potentially will have liquid loading problem in the future. |
