Description
Summary:ABSTRACT:

Polyurethane is a snythetic material that has various applications such as adhesive agents and elastomer material. In generally, the various applications of polturethane are based on the different of microphase formed in polyurethane. The microphase of polyurethane is influenced by types and compositions of materials used in polymerization. The objective of this research is to synthesize polyurethane from ricinoleic acid of castrol oil and 4,4-diphenyl methane diisocyanate and polyethylene glycol as the chain-extenders. The effect of the type and composition of the chain-extenders on the properties of polyurethanes were examined. Based on the result obtained indicated that the longer chain-extenders used in the snythesize of polyurethane, the cross-linked formed on polyurethane decreased, and this result caused the decreasing the degree of swelling, mechanical, and thermal properties of polyurethane.
