Description
Summary:Currently, human lives hard to live without power energy, in Indonesia the national energy consumption of power is estimated continue to increase every year. One of the solutions to fill the demand for power is utilizing the renewable energy sector including the ocean energy sector, and one of the ocean energy sectors is wave energy. Wave energy can be converted to into power electricity through a converter in the form of a floating structure. The structure will respond to the wave force into the 6 motions degrees of freedom and one of the motion is pitching. Pitch motion will be connected to the generator for generated power electricity. The research aims to design a floating structure that is effective against the pitching motion at the pilot location. The structure will be said effective if it produces good performance. In this study, the structures were modeled with various drafts and dimensions to obtain the most optimum hydrostatic parameter values. Furthermore, from this value it can be estimated that the amount of electrical power that can be generated by the PTO damping value is uniform for each structure. From the results of this study, it was found that each structure with the value of PTO damping 5×104 kNm has a different performance value at each wave periode. From the result of analysist, it is found that the greater of value radiation damping the greater of energy production and performance. The structure has the best performance at the Weh Island Aceh sea is structure-6 with value of performance is 63.42% in a wave period 8 to 9 second. Meanwhile, the annual energy production from structure-6 is 928.72 MWh/year, which is equivalent to a reduction in greenhouses gas emissions of 628.49 tons/year.
