Description
Summary:Limitations in activities during the COVID-19 pandemic have an impact on the inhibition of rural community activities, both from the economic and social aspects. Digital adaptation is one of the universal mechanisms to respond the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that helps people reduce activities outside the home. From an entrepreneurial perspective, digital adaptation is expected to be an input for external knowledge which will later be utilized to create an entrepreneurial innovation. One approach that can describe the ability of an entrepreneur to absorb new knowledge is Absorptive Capacity. This study aims to determine the effect of digital adaptation on entrepreneurial innovation during the COVID-19 pandemic in two different case studies, Panggungharjo Village through business units incorporated in Pasardesa.id and Tamansari Village through the Kampung Marketer / Komerce. The results of the study using qualitative methods show that digital adaptation encourages the creation of entrepreneurial innovation. The business unit in Panggungharjo Village has adapted to the use of digital technology to market its products and obtain information from the community. The different characteristics of entrepreneurship and digital adaptation of the two case studies influence the innovation that is formed. The digital adaptation of Panggungharjo Village is utilizing digital technology for product marketing and networking facilities so that the resulting innovation is in the form of product development as a result of collaboration between business units and the increasing variety of online platforms used. This is different from the digital adaptation of the Kampung Marketer business unit, Tamansari Village, which is oriented towards increasing the capabilities of members and modifying the internal business system which ultimately changes the business model from a social enterprise to a startup. Changes in the business model were made so that Kampung Marketer not only empowers village youth but also creates an environment that allows a continuous learning process to occur. The use of absorptive capacity in research provides a new perspective that the success of entrepreneurs in surviving and developing their business is not only influenced by individual abilities and motivations but also influenced by the learning climate formed in the community
