The innovation that embeds AR (augmented reality) technology transforms children's reading materials. The presence of AR interactive books is a form of digital renewal of interactive children's books that have existed since the 19th century, one of which is the toy theatre/play-scene book. One of the benefits of interactive children's books is that they can provide spaces for children and parents to interact during shared-book reading. The interaction that is built during this reading activity will produce a positive emotional connection. This phenomenon opens up opportunities for researchers and observers of child literacy to study how the characteristics of books, children, and parents are related. This study explores how digital and non-digital interactive features affect readers' interaction (adults and child) during shared-book reading. This study used experimental quantitative methods on 27 adult-child dyads divided into two experimental groups were treated forreadinginteractive AR books and interactive toy theatre/play-scene books. A control group read bookwithout using interactive features. Data collection in this study using observation techniques by recording interactions that occur during shared-book reading. Then, observations are codifying utilising the instrument, including dimensions; explicit and implicit conversations related to book content, verbal and non-verbal interactions betweenadult and child towards books. The results of this study indicate that the interactivefeature format has different effects. Toy theatre features have the most decisive influence on meaning-related interactions, specifically in the implicit conversation domain. text |
