Description
Summary:A friendly environment (walkable) and non walkable on the route that children take to school needs to be known as the first step to providing a Rute Aman Selamat Sekolah. Moreover, the zoning policy in the city of Bandung has provided an opportunity to promote non-motorized vehicle use activities on the way to and from school. This study aims to assess how environmentally friendly the school is through the school walkability index based on variables such as connectivity, vehicle traffic exposure, and housing density in four public schools in Bandung City located in Cibeunying Kidul District and Kiaracondong District. The walkability analysis method in this study was carried out objectively with a Geographic Information System approach. The results of the calculation of the school walkability index show that SMPN 37 Bandung is the school with the highest walkability index. The school walkability index was then analyzed by selecting the mode of transportation for the child together with other variables categorized as individual and family characteristics and the environment felt by the child (within the 7C walkability framework). The relationship analysis was carried out using binomial logistic regression based on the number of questionnaires 146 respondents from the four schools studied. The results of the analysis show that the school walkability index has a significant effect on the choice of transportation modes for children. In addition, the variables of daily allowance, ability to walk, distance from home to school, and parental support for walking are also known to be significant factors in choosing the mode of walking
