Description
Summary:The phenomenon of metropolitanization in Indonesia has taken place in areas based on medium-sized cities, one of which is the Yogyakarta Urban Area. This study aims to identify the development of KPY land cover and its implications for spatial planning. The KPY development trend extrapolated from historical data shows an expansion of 28.76 km2 or 14.30% from 2015-2035. The development of the spatial pattern of land cover was modeled using Cellular Automata and then validated with a reference map resulting in an accuracy rate of 86.59% and Kappa's Coefficient with a value of 0.769 which is classified as a good agreement. The simulation results show that in 2035, the distribution of urban land use growth agglomerates at several points radially around the KPY. Based on the modeling, it was found that the development of the Prambanan KSN has the potential to exceed the allocation of spatial patterns in the spatial planning policy, and growth in Sleman Regency is developing to the disaster-prone area so that development control is needed. This study recommends reconsideration of the use of land use change projections in describing the potential for land development and early detection of discrepancies in land cover development in the formulation of the Yogyakarta Urban Area spatial plan document.
