Summary: | M Field is a gas field located in the North East Java Basin and covers an area of ±70 km2. The objectives of this study are to determine M Field’s geological setting, to generate static reservoir model, and to estimate initial hydrocarbon in place. The study is focused on limestone reservoir in Mundu Formation.
The dataset used in this study includes wireline log of 2 wells, 3D seismic data, mudlog data of 4 horizontal wells, and the report of sidewall core description data. The methods used in this study consist of four evaluation methods, which are: well data analysis by doing well-to-well correlation and petrophysical analysis; seismic data analysis by generating depth structure map and interpreting reservoir geometry; the integration of well data and seismic data; reservoir modelling by generating 3D structure model, generating petrophysical model, determining fluid contact, and estimating initial hydrocarbon in place.
The results of these methods are the stratigraphy and structure of M Field which are derived from integration of well data and seismic data. Main structure of M Field is a west southwest – east shoutheast trending anticline associated with north – south trending normal faults suspected to be the manifestation of negative flower structure that possibly related to Sakala strike-slip fault system. The reservoir interval is limestone with varied thickness between 22–47 metres and deposited in the outer shelf of a non-rimmed carbonate shelf. The initial gas in place estimation of the reservoir is 399.2 BSCF.
