Summary:Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP) is a polymeric matrix with specific recognition cavities of template/analyte molecule, which is formed by polymerization reaction of functional monomer, as a product obtained from Molecularly Imprinted Technology (MIT). Nano-MIP is a nano-scale MIP, a product produced by combination of nanotechnology and MIT. The utilization of nano-MIP has a great potency in pharmaceutical field, especially with the continuation of nano-MIP development in the future. Desmopressin is a synthetic analogue of arginine vasopressin. Desmopressin has antidiuretic activity and blood coagulating effect. Since 2011, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has been including desmopressin in List of Prohibited Substances and Methods within the category of diuretics and masking agents doping. Study with literature review method was held to obtain deep understanding about nano-MIP and it’s characteristics, nano-MIP synthesis techniques, and application of nano-MIP in pharmaceutical field. From the literature review, a systematic plan to produce nano-MIP as adsorbent for desmopressin from biological sample, was designed.
