Previous research has shown the potential activity of several plants against one of the highest causes of death in Indonesia, namely hypertension. To inventory the uses and effects of plants with a wider scope, a literature review was conducted on the pharmacological activity of saffron, gotu kola, neem, goji berry, and frankincense against the highest causes of death in Indonesia, namely diabetes mellitus, heart ischemia, stroke, hypertension, cirrhosis, and COPD. The search was carried out using the PubMed search engine in the period 2016-2021 and there were 126 journals that met the inclusion criteria in order of saffron, gotu kola, neem, goji berry, and frankincense 56, 30, 15, 24, and 14 journals. The results showed that saffron has the potential for stroke, cardiac ischemia, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cirrhosis, and COPD; gotu kola for cardiac ischemia and diabetes mellitus; neem for diabetes mellitus; goji berry for stroke, cardiac ischemia, and diabetes mellitus; and frankincense for diabetes mellitus and cirrhosis. The study recommend Crocus sativus L. in the form of Safrotin and Azadirachta indica A.Juss to lower blood glucose levels in diabetes mellitus patients and Lycium barbarum L. to lower serum HIF 1? levels in COPD patients. Other plants that have been preclinically tested have not yet been further studied for use by humans, so it can be continued to the next stage, clinical trials. text
