Description
Summary:Abstract :

Nanocomposite material from epoxy resin and SiO2 nanoparticle was made by a simple mixing method. The samples have been characterized using stress test and Fourier Transform Spectroscopy (FT-IR). FT-IR characterization succeeded to find the differences of bonding types between polymer without SiO2 and polymer with SiO2. From stress test, we found that the polymer strength increase by about 24% compared with polymer without SiO2 when adding SiO2 with mass fraction of about 0,0087. This phenomenon occurs because of the wide surface area of SiO2 nanoparticle to create strong interaction with the polymer. This interaction reduces the mobility of polymer chain and makes the polymer stronger. We conclude that the simple mixing method are very promising for mass production of super strong, light in weight and transparent nanocomposite.
