EVALUASI KETERSEDIAAN AIR DENGAN MENGESTIMASI MULTI-SKENARIO KEBUTUHAN AIR DI WILAYAH ASIA TENGGARA PADA TAHUN 2015
The water crisis has become one of the major disasters and challenges in many regions globally. There is a prediction that global warming can increase the frequency and intensity of water crisis in the 21st century, which mostly occur in Southeast Asia and other regions. There is a prediction that global warming can increase the frequency and intensity of water crisis in the 21st century, which mostly occur in Southeast Asia and other regions. Besides, the El Nino phenomenon also has a strong effect, which causes drought. Evaluation of water availability in Southeast Asia has not been developed much, which can be used as evaluation and sustainable development planning to overcome the water crisis. This study aims to determine water balance by comparing water availability and water demand in the Southeast Asia region with remote sensing technology. Water balance is defined in terms of deficit and surplus. In determining water balance, the estimated water demand is divided into four aspects that are the most dominant among other aspects, namely crop, livestock, domestic, and industry. The aspect of livestock and domestic water demand is divided into three scenarios, namely lowest, moderate, and highest, so there are also three scenarios for the total water demand in the Southeast Asia region. Based on water-shortage seriousness index, almost the entire region of Southeast Asia has a water deficit. The value of water deficit in a region varies depending on climate and total water demand. The result of this study is expected to provide information on water availability and areas with high and low water demand, so the information as a base for good policy making. text |
