Summary: | Kampung Braga is an example of a village located in the center of Bandung, with
a low quality of life with a high population density. Braga area during the Dutch
rule in 1910-1940 Braga became the economic center of the Dutch East Indies and
has a high cultural and historical heritage. The Braga area has experienced a high
economic growth and this area has grown into an increasingly dense village, where
land ownership is divided between individuals, the government, and developers and
some have been converted into public facilities as a result of the revitalization of
the Braga area. The Bandung City Government has made the Braga area a tourism
village in an effort to attract more tourists. According to the Head of the Bandung
City Culture and Tourism Office, Kenny Dewi Kaniasari, will make a pilot area
that is worth visiting in terms of facilities, attractions, culture and accessibility.
Kampung Braga is planned to be a community-based creative tourism village that
can be a prototype for other villages in Bandung. The purpose of this design is to
design potential spaces on narrow land to be applied as green open spaces that are
ecologically, culturally, historically, educationally and recreationally beneficial in
the context of the tourist village of Braga. Therefore, an approach with
environmental thermal comfort will be used to understand the existing climatic
conditions in densely populated areas, examine challenges and potentials, and
simulate the selection of plant species that are able to provide thermal comfort that
can reduce the temperature in the area. From the data obtained based on physical
analysis and simulations, the researchers found that the design of potential spaces
for green spaces as well as proper selection and arrangement of vegetation can
reduce the temperature at the planned site. Based on the simulation of plant species
selection, it was found that the use of wide-titled vegetation and columnar
vegetation had a good contribution in reducing the temperature at a site that was
fairly dense and not too large. The arrangement of columnar vegetation is very
effective for planting on the west and east sides and broad-titled vegetation is
dominant in reducing the temperature evenly in the center of the site. Based on the
design of Green Open Space in the Braga tourist village area, it can increase the
kuantity of Green Open Space of 8860 m2, and an average temperature decrease of
2.06 C. |
