Description
Summary:In this industrial age, a fast and flexible mass and energy conductor is needed so that the objectives of a production can be achieved optimally. Steam or steam has accommodated many industrial needs for that matter. However, as with its natural characteristics, steam will not have the same phase when it is at room temperature and pressure. Therefore, thermal insulation is needed to maintain the fluid temperature properly. In practice, there are still few test equipment that can determine the optimum insulation model for steam-driven pipes for certain industrial purposes. Therefore, in this final project, a simulation of the calculation of heat transfer in the steam flow will be made with variations in thermal insulation. The materials tested in this study include glass wool, cotton wool, and rock wool with thickness variations from 2mm to 10mm. Based on the calculations, the results is glass wool gives the smallest heat loss value with a value of 447.43 J/m for an insulation thickness of 10mm.
