Today technology development have given a significant influence on the existence of the library. Library as a knowledge pool in a research center is expected to give the best service and to provide many research contents. In the past, a conventional library was considered as a physical building with many books inside, a public space, and a place for people got some inspiration. The shifting in the library has replaced the work patterns and now more focus on management services. While this case study focuses on the human resource ability, we observe the phenomena with ethnography approach about a new environment research library, enhancing the potential for interactive learning among its users. Research is as information repository and depository the document need to adapt with the rapid change of technology as well as the behaviour and need of theory user. The subject of this research is to examine the challenges of library in Indonesia toward the era of library 3.0, where libraries have to adapt with technology as well as their user’s character, particularly for libraries which provide a service to support researches. This study use LIPI library as a case study. This study found that the larger challenges of LIPI library are the capacity and their strategy to increase the capacity of their human resources, particularly the librarian readiness as interactive learning provider as well as providing the research services both to researches and society.
