Description
Summary:The promising potential of tin mining in Bangka Belitung Province encourages PT. Timah to carry out further exploration on both land and offshore by making Stripping Ship PT. Timah 2020. In this bachelor thesis, a structural strength analysis was done by carrying out a static load analysis with the addition of dynamic factors to the pontoon structure that had been developed by PT. Dok dan Perkapalan Air Kantung (DAK). The analysis was performed using finite element simulation by ANSYS software with loading condition at dredging operations at a depth of 30 m. The results of the analysis are stress and safety factors. In finite element simulation we get 42,96 max stress with safety factor is 5,82. And from manual calculation we get 41,54 max stress with safety factor is 6,08. The design of this spud structure has a high safety factor so it is very safe and exceeds the capacity requirement (overdesign). As a consequence the excess weight of this structure will burden the ship's operating conditions. So it is recommended that the spud structure be modified to produce a structure that is more effective and efficient but still safe when operating.
