Description
Summary:The development of digitalization demands that the industry continues to improve its organization to compete in the global market. Digitization is changing the handling of data and information by offering new opportunities to process information. This allows increased effectiveness and efficiency in the company. The EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) industry is one of the industries that has not been able to apply this concept. A method is needed to apply the concept of digitization by adjusting the environmental and operational conditions in the EPC industry. The concept of monitoring the production process by identifying materials or components in a fabrication workshop has been proposed as a more suitable implementation of the digitalization concept without adding tools and using only smart phones. An industrial object identification system was developed to link physical products to the system. The system design process is divided into two parts, namely (1) identification system design and (2) application system design. The system is built using the Application Programming Interface (API) from Firebase as a realtime database and Machine Learning (ML) Kit from Google as an identification system using the ICR (Intelligent Character Recognition) principle. Testing is carried out directly at the EPC industrial fabrication workshop. The test results show that this system is running well. Production components can be integrated into the system and produce data and information that can be displayed on Android-based smartphone devices.
