NUMERICAL MODELING OF THE EFFECT OF LAND SUBSIDENCE ON COASTAL EROSION IN PEKALONGAN

This study examines the condition of sediment transport after land subsidence occurs on the Pekalongan coast by means of a numerical modeling process. This study began by collecting field data consisting of shoreline data, bathymetry data, tidal water level elevation, current velocity, wind speed, w...

This study began by collecting field data consisting of shoreline data, bathymetry data, tidal water level elevation, current velocity, wind speed, waves, and sediment data. The data were obtained from primary and secondary sources. Furthermore, the data is processed to obtain the data needed as input in performing numerical modeling. This research was then carried out by modeling hydrodynamic conditions and then integrated with sediment transport models in two scenarios in conditions before and after land subsidence where the difference lies in changes in water depth. The numerical model is then calibrated and verified on the data of tidal water level elevation and current velocity and sensitivity test is carried out to determine the characteristics of the numerical modeling carried out. Hydrodynamic conditions and sediment transport are viewed from several parameters such as current velocity and direction, significant wave height, tidal water level elevation and sedimentation or erosion. The results of the numerical model are then compared based on the scenarios before and after the land subsidence occurs. The results showed that after the land subsidence there was an increase in the sedimentation rate and a decrease in the erosion rate in the study area, but the rate of land subsidence was much faster than the sedimentation formed so that in fact the area was still sinking. text
