Around 60% of the country’s population lives in coastal areas and depend on it for their livelihood. One of the most common problems faced by coastal areas are the erosion of coastline. One location that faces this problem is the beach located in Kampung Pasir Village, West Aceh Regency, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Province. Large waves which cause coastal abrasion coupled with sloping beach and high tide causes annual flood tides in the area. The annual flood tide causes much damage to public facilities and to the houses of the locals living by the edge of the ocean. Planning and design of coastal structures are needed to overcome this problem. Shoreline change simulation modeling for 10 years is done by using the Nearshore Evolution Modeling System (NEMOS) module in the Coastal Engineering Design and Analysis System (CEDAS) software. Coastal structures that are modelled consist of groins, detached breakwater, revetments and the combination of those structures. The results of the model shows that detached breakwaters are the best alternative solution to overcome the coastal abrasion in Kampung Pasir Village. Detached breakwaters are effective in holding cross-shore transport which is the dominant sediment transport in the beach. The shoreline change model shows that a configuration of 5 breakwaters placed 150 m from the shoreline with a length of 150 m and 25 m spacing is the best solution to the problems faced by the beach. A rubble mound type breakwater is constructed consisting of 3 layers; armor layer made of tetrapod, filter layer and core layer made from quarry stones. Dimension of the structure is designed by referring to Shore Protection Manual Volume II and The Rock Manual. Stability analysis on the detached breakwater is done by using PLAXIS 2D v8.2. The geotechnical analysis done is the stability of the structure in static conditions, the effect of wave and earthquake forces, long term consolidation and the bearing capacity of soil beneath the breakwater. The results of the model and calculation shows that the soil condition is strong enough to withstand the load from the structure and the structure itself meet the stability requirements that have been set in SNI 8460:2017 regarding geotechnical design requirements. text
