Description
Summary:In recent years, the world is facing a global issue related to the sustainability of sustainable life in the future. Various campaigns and programs have begun to be realized to protect the global ecosystem, one of which is by reducing the use of CO2-emitting fuels or also known as fossil fuels. Reducing the use of fossil fuels must of course be substituted in other forms of energy, one of which is renewable energy. Based on the geological conditions of Indonesia. Geothermal energy as one of the renewable energies has great potential for its development in Indonesia. Of course, the development of geothermal energy requires talent or skilled human resources in this field. Unfortunately, there is no program for undergraduate education for geothermal energy in Indonesian universities. One of the undergraduate programs that still intersects with the geothermal energy industry is the petroleum engineering degree program. Here the researcher takes the student of Undergraduate Petroleum Engineering at the Bandung Institute of Technology as the object of research. Students as the next generation in this industry certainly need to prepare skills and knowledge for this opportunity. For that, of course, need motivation as an individual mover. Motivation also has a dynamic form and is highly personalized by environmental conditions. In the definition of motivation, each individual has control over himself and ii has the right to make choices in deciding to make an effort to try to achieve individual goals. In this study, researchers used "motivation as an awareness driver" as a research framework combined with Maslow's theory of motivational hierarchy. The reason the author chooses Maslow's theory of motivation hierarchy over other motivational theories is because this theory is classified as content theory. It has a strong configuration with "motivation as an awareness driver", and also in identifying and exploring motivations in dealing with careers, Maslow's hierarchy theory is very suitable to be used. Because there is a factor to fulfill individual needs personally there. Therefore, a diagnostic model was formed which contained six variables with five independent variables and one dependent variable. The independent variables are physiological needs, safety needs, social needs, self-esteem, and self-actualization. Then, the dependent variable is awareness. These five variables are used to examine the relationship between motivation and awareness and the effect of motivation on awareness. This study uses a quantitative approach to collect data from respondents. In this study, each respondent was given 18 questions, which were representative of 6 variables
