Summary: | Fulfilling food needs is a requirement for food security which consists of various
aspects such as adequate quantity, good quality, adequate nutrition, not conflict
with local religious and cultural principles, and distributed at affordable prices.
Lettuce is an seasonal vegetable that has a high water content, a source of minerals,
vitamin A, vitamin C, and it is high in fiber. Lettuce production is still not able to
meet the needs of domestic lettuce thus lettuce imports are still being carried out.
One of the efforts to increase the production is to improve soil quality for lettuce
cultivation using organic fertilizers. Chicken manure has the highest content
compared to other animal manure. BSF larvae has the speed in converting organic
matter. Chlorophyll is a green color-giving pigment and plays a role in plant
photosynthesis. This study aims to determine the effect of the type of manure on
growth parameters and chlorophyll content and determine the optimal type of
manure for the growth of lettuce plants. Chlorophyll level were measured using the
Winterman and de Mots method. The data was analyzed using IBM Statistic 26.
The results showed that the effect of chicken manure treatment gave different effect
on chlorophyll a content and did not differ on growth parameters, chlorophyll b
content, and total chlorophyll content. The optimal treatment for lettuce growth was
chicken manure fed with mixture of coffee grounds at a dose of 15 tons/ha and
chicken manure treated with BSF larvae at a dose of 15 tons/ha. |
