Summary: | Floods are natural disasters that occur when excessive water flows submerge land. Urban areas, such as the city of Bandung, are also not free from these problems. Some of the causative factors include land use problems such as water absorption areas that change land functions into residential areas which cause a reduction in infiltration areas, to the phenomenon of land subsidence. In addition, problems such as narrowing and silting of rivers in the city of Bandung are also one of the factors that cause the expansion of flood and inundation areas in Greater Bandung.
One of the rivers that often experiences overflow is the Cianting River, where this river passes through the Pasteur area which is one of the accesses in and out of the city of Bandung. It has been more than three years that floods have continued to hit this area with a flood height of up to 1.6 m. Therefore, flood management is needed for the Cianting Sub-watershed area with an area of 1.68 km2. Efforts that can be made to overcome flooding in the area are normalization along the river and planning for embankments which will be divided into three segments. The method used in conducting research, starting from hydrological analysis to determine the planned flood discharge. Then a hydraulic analysis was carried out to model the existing cross section as well as embankment simulation and normalization.
