One of the newest standards regarding lubricant product is SNI 7069-1:2020, which consists of classification and specification of a 4-stroke gasoline engine oil. This SNI is a form of revision or update from the previous standard, which is SNI 7069-1:2012. In order to satisfy the standards included, a test method is needed to be developed to evaluate lubricant’s performance parameter characteristic according to the newest classification of lubricants. In this final project, a proposed test method is developed in accordance to ASTM D 6984, which is a Sequence IIIF standard test method. The test method is chosen by conducting a root cause analysis (RCA) on various engine components failure and degradation due to lubricant’s quality. The scope of this proposed test method is engine oil’s oxidation stability in high temperature. Modification or adaptation is done on the test method in the form of test engine replacement. Therefore, the test result can fully represent lubrication’s performance that is used in Indonesia. The final output of this final project is a proposed test method document, consisting of scope, apparatus, procedure, and interpretation of test result. The document is also structured conforming to ASTM standard format. text |
