Through sustainable transition development, industries are trying to address the decreasing resources issue that does not go in line with the soaring of today’s consumer population and their increasing purchasing power. However, the multidimensional nature of sustainability requires an integrated endeavour to stimulate interests for economic circumstances, environmental and social situations. Referring to the three fundamental dimensions of sustainable performance (planet, profit, people), the ideal sustainable transition development needs to also generate benefits for the communities involved, both consumer and producer. In response to the issue, this project is initiated as a strategy of the sustainable transition by discovering the potency of resource efficiency in the weaving industry through home-scale produced fiber waste composite. Experiments of composite techniques were carried out to facilitate the various fiber waste conditions and to investigate the opportunity of diversifying the economic resources for the industry and for the workers involved, particularly home-based workers. Through the focus of the study conducted at PT Retota Retail Indonesia, this research also explores the fiber waste with the participation of the home-based worker community, particularly home-based workers who involve in the chain of production. The primary purpose of community participation is to find a proper method of production and to investigate the opportunity for increasing the performance of home-based workers. As result, this research project presents an environmentally friendly fiber waste composite that shows a productive level of efficiency to be produced by home-based workers.
