Innovation is needed to increase the productivity of industrial plantation forests. One of the activities that can increase the productivity of industrial plantation forests is fertilization. Fertilizing using a fertilizer applicator will speed up fertilizing plants. In this study, we will design a fertilizer applicator that can vary the dose. Modeling using Soliworks software based on design requirements and objectives. This study uses the finite element method to analyze the loading and safety factor of the fertilizer applicator. The simulation results are validated by conducting a convergence test. This study also performs discrete element simulations to estimate fertilizer dose, load torque and compressive force experienced by fertilizer grains. Simulations are validated by conducting experiments. This study shows that the selected applicator design is an applicator using an auger feeder with horizontal orientation and using an agitator. The design results have a safety factor of 2.38. The design has the ability to vary the dose through the rotation of the auger feeder. The presence of an agitator can prevent the occurrence of clumping of fertilizer granules so that the dose issued is more accurate. The dose of fertilizer in each round of the auger feeder is 3.31 grams/round. text
