Indonesia has natural wealth and has the potential to be developed into the tourism sector. There
are physical problems that often arise in tourism areas, such as building designs that dominate
compared to natural potential, less integrated utility systems, not environmentally friendly, to lack
of water sources. Humans have a desire to take a vacation, but human activities are the main cause
of environmental damage (ecosystem). The increasing number of human population results in
increased living needs and results in a decrease in environmental quality in the form of ecosystem
damage which further threatens and endangers human survival itself.
It can be identified that resort facilities are not present as an effort to optimize a sustainable
lifestyle. Most recreational facilities have not implemented the concept of caring for the
environment and tend to produce a lot of waste. There are not many applications of bamboo
technology that support the permaculture concept of a resort area.
The purpose of this design is to produce architectural designs in the form of eco-oriented resorts,
as well as smart and ecologically-minded design principles and concepts to create habitats that
support productive landscapes, protected water, and continuously renewable resources.
Permaculture which is an awareness of design and maintenance of productive agricultural
ecosystems that have diversity, stability and resilience of natural ecosystems, as well as the
harmony of nature with humans is one of the applications of environmentally oriented design.
What is emphasized is the integration between ecology, architecture, and agro-foresty in
constructing a sustainable life, so that it is found that inputs and outputs become a circular cycle.
Bamboo is a renewable and versatile resource to support sustainable living. It is characterized by
high strength and low volume weight and is easy to work with using simple tools. Thus, bamboo
construction is easy to build, lightweight and elastic properties make bamboo construction
resistant to earthquake forces and easy to repair in case of damage. Related products (bamboobased panels and bamboo reinforced concrete) are also found in the construction process.
To create a success design, the design vision is divided into 3, namely Earth Care, Water Care,
Future Care. Earth Care's design vision includes the creation of productive living and sustainable
permaculture green lands. The vision for the design of Water Care includes the application of
closed water circulation (looping waterflow) and the use of flowing water as a source of energy
(kinetic energy). Meanwhile, the Future Care design vision is realized by implementing an honest
and sustainable structure (naked structure) and controlling waste from living things (waste
control) through biogas.
The design approach is an approach to the shape of leaves and hills. This shape was chosen to
represent the permaculture concept applied to the design. The shape of the leaves also allows the
creation of interesting and more organic exploration spaces. There are 3 main functions on the
west side that will welcome visitors and the composition of the three masses forms a skyline of
hills following the contours of the land. The main function at the front is the restaurant which is
directly connected to the function of the food processing building, as well as the reception lobby
for lodging which is directly related to the function of the Back of the House building.
In the three main buildings which have a roof shape like leaves, a structure in the form of bamboo
modules is applied plus reinforcing bamboo resembling tree branches that support each curtain.
Above the gording there is a diagrid rafters structure. On top of the rafters structure there are
battens to support the roof covering, then the roof is covered by a bamboo slate roof. The eaves of
the bamboo roof are made wide to filter the entry of sunlight and protect visitors from rainwater.
The grouping of activities is expected to create an interactive atmosphere for visitors and visitors
to get an interesting experience from each activity and building, especially the experience and
learning of permaculture. Education and training activities can take the form of composting,
processing planting land, harvesting produce, cooking, water treatment, fishing, raising large
livestock, and processing fish and small livestock. These activities can be guided by instructors
provided by the resort. Curriculum as well as teaching materials and equipment are also provided
so that visitors can choose and enjoy what activities they want to learn.
The activities provided can be enjoyed by visitors, both those who come together, with family, or
in groups. Activities can also be followed by various age ranges. For group visitors, it can be
defined as school study tour visitors, family groups, and permaculture community groups, so that
this design area can be accessed by visitors who have experience or who do not have experience
in permaculture activities.
In the planting area, there is a division of plants that are grown and developed. These plants can
grow well complemented by compost produced from animal manure in small farm areas. Existing
plants are also supported by the distribution of water from water tanks and catchment areas. So,
in 1 part of the planting area there is a continuous cycle between the components of living things.
The provision of planting land can be used as a recreation and learning area for visitors where
visitors can practice a productive life firsthand. Productive in question is the activity of processing
existing resources so that they can be consumed. This productivity of life is expected to become a
continuous lifestyle after visitors finish visiting this area. |
