Description
Summary:Since the COVID-19 pandemic, the government made a new policy that affected the Make-To-Order manufacturing industry sector. Regulations limiting the number of employees require companies to monitor work remotely. The MTO industry must evaluate its production process by adjusting the monitoring system. This research aims to provide alternative solutions regarding implementing a real-time production activity monitoring system using the Internet of Things (IoT) concept. An alternative solution designed using an IoT-based sensor to perform remote monitoring in real-time by recording idle machine time, setup time, machining time, and cycle time for calculating productive time and non-productive time. In addition, the monitoring system can track the progress of an order in real-time. The monitoring data is integrated with the company's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for production activity control. Designing alternative solutions begins with identifying system requirements, identifying hardware, software, and data types for monitoring production activities. This research generates three alternative IoT solutions for monitoring systems. Alternative one can detect status changes with fast response times as there is no delay. However, the installation process is more complicated than alternatives 2 and 3. While in Alternatives 2 and 3, there is a delay 0 to 1.5 seconds in detecting the status, the installation process is relatively easy. Discussion about the design, testing, integration, and analysis carried out according to several conditions of the MTO of the machine. .
