Summary:Mathematics modeling to describe wave refraction-diffraction problems has been developed; one of the models is Watanabe and Maruyama model (1986). However, most of the models still use parallel bathymetry toward coastline, but actually the fact is beach condition is vary and not always parallel toward coastline. Therefore, we need a model that can be used in both parallel and not parallel toward coastline. One of the models that can be used in both conditions is REF/DIF which has been developed by Kirby and Dalrymple (1983). In this study, there will be some test to see the accuracy of that model. First, it compared with analytical model, laboratory data, and Watanabe and Maruyama model (1986) for simple cases, include using of jetty and breakwater. Then, REF/DIF is tested in varying bathymetry (not parallel toward coastline) and it is also tested in varying wave climates. <br /> After tested in simple cases, the errors of comparison results between both Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and REF/DIF with analytical model, shows between 2.18-2.95 for Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and 6.34-8.78 for REF/DIF. For jetty case, the errors of comparison results between both Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and REF/DIF with laboratory data, shows error between 8.29-29.85 for Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and 18.99-53.05 for REF/DIF. And for breakwater case, the errors of comparison results between both Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and REF/DIF with laboratory data, shows error between 5,93-14,64 for Watanabe and Maruyama (1986) model and 11,48-24,81 for REF/DIF. When REF/DIF is used in varying bathymetry, REF/DIF can describe refraction - diffraction process. <br />
