STUDY OF COAST PROTECTION STRUCTURE IN BAHER BEACH AS SUPPORTING AT THE WATERFRONT CITY CONCEPT IN TOBOALI CITY SOUTH BANGKA REGENCY

ABSTRACT: <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Baher beach is alongside of Toboali City that has the settlement of fisherman and access route towards the office block of government of South Bangka Regency. Coastal erosion has become threat for housings and other buildings which has nearby coastline. However Baher beach is a white sand beach so that has become a potential tourism area and according to the concept of Toboali as waterfront city, Baher beach has been specified as the front view of urban plan. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> The purpose of this study is to stabilize the shoreline against erosion problem along Baher Beach in order to protect beach front structures such as roads, housing and also to support tourism sector, fishery and local economy without creating negative impact for adjacent beaches. Analysis performed within this research are tides fluctuation analysis to estimates design elevation guidance, wave forecasting using series of wind data in ten years (1994-2003)from Meteorology and Geophysics Biro Depati Amir Pangkalpinang to examine predicted wave heights and periods, and finally analysis of shoreline change using GENESIS software. From result of analysis could be determined the critical points of erosion and arranged concept of erosion prevention which considered as a few alternative of cost protection structure such as groin, breakwater and also recommendations needed to treat Baher Beach comprehensively.
