In fact,Indonesia had the largest and fastest growing e-commerce market in ASEAN in 2019 and with an increasing demand for a faster yet safer delivery of goods, companies race to provide a solution to aid these needs. One of it being cargo drones, an unmanned vehicle equipped to transport goods at a faster rate. However, when analysing the market, cargo drones pose as a competitor to the many existing modes of shipments. Therefore, in choosing the proper technical specifications for the perfect cargo drones, an in-depth qualitative analysis must be done first to determine which segments of the market suits it best. Due to its speedy delivery, cargo drones could be the best solution for time-sensitive commodities including perishable goods and medical-related items such as vaccines. Furthermore, in terms of area of operation, the Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) cities remain to be the prominent choice for operations since it dominates the Indonesian market. After the area of operation has been defined, the quantitative analysis may proceed to acquire the cargo drones’ technical specifications including the maximum range, payload capacity and the cargo compartment dimension. After everything has been determined, an economic analysis is doneto prove that the operations of cargo drones are profitable. With a selling price of IDR 28,213 per kilograms, the economic analysis shows that operating 150-kg cargo drones generate 32%of net profit margin and 300-kg cargo drones generate 31% of net profit margin. text |
