The larval phase of the black soldier fly has the potential to be used as a decomposer of oil palm empty fruit bunches. This effort is constrained by the high oil palm empty fruit bunches fiber content. This study aimed to determine the best hatching media for the growth of black soldier fly larvae based on average length and weight, and to determine the condition of the larvae if after DOL 19 were transferred to oil palm empty fruit bunches media in oil palm plantations and the condition of DOL5 larvae if directly given to oil palm empty fruit bunches media in oil palm plantations and their effect on oil palm empty fruit bunches. This research was conducted for 5 months, from 12 January to 17 June 2021 in an oil palm plantation in Pekanbaru. The data obtained in the form of visual documents (photos) and the measurement results were analyzed by statistical analysis using a completely randomized design, ANOVA Test, and Duncan Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the growth of the black soldier fly larvae was longer and heavier when hatched in white rice tape. The black soldier fly larvae remained alive and grew after being fed to oil palm empty fruit bunches media in oil palm plantations. Black soldier fly larvae can help speed up the decomposition of oil palm empty fruit bunches. text
