Summary: | Early adolescence is a period where children have started to experience changes both
physically, emotionally and psychologically. Meanwhile, the education system in
Indonesia is very fixated on convergent thinking methods which severely limit the
creativity of the child. If not properly guided, adolescents will lose direction and will
not uphold creative thinking patterns during their growth development.
Psychologically, early adolescence is a period where children begin to want to
compete with their peers and to seek validation. The child will start to try many new
things, following their friend's steps both for good and bad in hope of wanting to be
recognized by others. Coupled with the proliferation of entertainment media in digital
form that makes them addicted and often forgets the potential for creativity they have
because they are too busy to be doctrinaire from outside factors.
Therefore an alternative educational game media is needed that can hone their
creativity through the desire of adolescents to compete fairly and healthily, seeing the
many stigma among teenagers that toys are only for infants and are no longer fun for
them. By following the trend and development of Urban Toys in Indonesia, various
potentials have been opened to develop a toy that they can make as a healthy hobby,
which is certainly good for nurturing their creativity.
