Summary: | Needle felting is a technique that forces wool fibers in the same direction repeatedly until they
are solid and able to hold the shape on their own or can be made by hitting and compacting until
they shrink to form a plane or object. The advantage of needle felting is forming threedimensional objects to be able to be developed into interior products. Until now, needle felting
is still rarely used for manufacturing interior furniture products. This technique's potential can
be increased by applying more exploration in the manufacture of furniture or interior products
because of its nature which can be processed in various dimensions and is flexible. Glitch art is
an intentional digital error visual to create an aesthetic from error manipulation by destroying
digital data.Combining the uniqueness of visual glitch art in a product using needle felting can
produce more distinctive and alternative textile designs for interior products.
This study uses a qualitative method; the collected data are literature studies, interviews, field
observations, and explorations focused on incorporating needle felt interior products using glitch
art visuals. The study includes: (1) make a visual combination of all types of glitches visuals
without removing their aesthetics to be combined with needle felting techniques by simplifying it
(2) applying the needle felting technique on glitch art visuals that has a complicated color
composition and form (3) Doing enlargement of scale glitch art visuals with needle felting for
interior products (4) exploring three-dimensional forms with various materials for needle felting
techniques for interior products. This research results in an interior product that adapted glitch
art visual using a needle felting technique. |
