A MODIFIED NON- ISOTHERMAL LUMPED PARAMETER MODEL IN POROUS MEDIA FOR LUMUT BALAI GEOTHERMAL FIELD

INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/58152 The exploitation of geothermal fluids may result in a decrease of reservoir pressure, thus affecting the production of the geothermal well. Therefore, the aim of this research is to calculate and predict the production of the geothermal reservoir during a specific time by using a lumped parameter model. This method calculates heat and mass balance in non-isothermal conditions with changes in pressure and temperature. The Darcy equation was also used to change the “tank concept” from the lumped model into a porous media to best illustrate the current condition of the reservoir in order to calculate the flow rate analytically. This model can be used for history matching processes as well as a tool for “quick counting” from numerical simulations. The result of this model is thus a model with a change in pressure, temperature and mass balance based on calculations relative to the function of time by eliminating several assumptions used. Hence, an integrated model between a lumped parameter and a porous media flow has the capability to predict changes within the reservoir. An advantage of this modified, non-isothermal lumped parameter model is its simplicity and quickness in calculating compared to the conventional numerical reservoir simulation. Therefore, a user of this method can perceive and understand the changes currently happening within the reservoir earlier as the reservoir is being exploited. text |

The exploitation of geothermal fluids may result in a decrease of reservoir pressure,
thus affecting the production of the geothermal well. Therefore, the aim of this
research is to calculate and predict the production of the geothermal reservoir
during a specific time by using a lumped parameter model. This method calculates
heat and mass balance in non-isothermal conditions with changes in pressure and
temperature. The Darcy equation was also used to change the “tank concept” from
the lumped model into a porous media to best illustrate the current condition of the
reservoir in order to calculate the flow rate analytically. This model can be used
for history matching processes as well as a tool for “quick counting” from
numerical simulations. The result of this model is thus a model with a change in
pressure, temperature and mass balance based on calculations relative to the
function of time by eliminating several assumptions used. Hence, an integrated
model between a lumped parameter and a porous media flow has the capability to
predict changes within the reservoir. An advantage of this modified, non-isothermal
lumped parameter model is its simplicity and quickness in calculating compared to
the conventional numerical reservoir simulation. Therefore, a user of this method
can perceive and understand the changes currently happening within the reservoir
earlier as the reservoir is being exploited. |
