The Karmawibhangga reliefs illustrate the law of cause and effect through various stories of human good and bad behaviour as well as the rewards and punishments that will be received. The stories in the Karmawibhangga reliefs are actually quite relevant to real life and may serve as a lesson for anyone, so it is necessary to understand the contents of the reliefs. One method of reading the temple reliefs can be done using the theory of Visual Language from Prof. Dr. Primadi Tabrani. However, not everyone understands how to read reliefs, causing the contents to not reach a wide audience. On the other hand, animation has the power to convey complex concepts into something interesting and easy to understand. Two-dimentional (2D) animation is also a medium that flexible enough to imitate traditional works of art that have a strong distinctive style. This final project research aims to design a 2D animation that is made similar to the art stlye and layout of said relief, with the hope of helping anyone who sees it to understand how the relief “works” and its story content better. text |
