Description
Summary:Indonesia is one of the archipelago countries in the world and one of the countries located on the equator with a wide range of energy potential, especially renewable energy. But utilization of renewable energy is still very small, especially wind energy. The location of this study took place in the oceans around Matakus Island, West Southeast Maluku. The location has promising wind energy potential. This study also uses a 3-blade vertical axis wind turbine with H-Darrieus Rotor type. There are 3 variations of airfoils, namely NACA 0015, NACA 2415, and DU 06 W 200 are used for vertical axis wind turbines. This study also carried out variations in the height and radius of the turbine and then saw the effect on the turbine output power. The results obtained in this study are a 3-blade vertical axis wind turbine NACA 2415 airfoil type with the largest turbine dimension chosen as the type of turbine that is suitable for use because it has the best average power value between NACA 0015 and DU 06 W 200 airfoil types. The average power value of the turbine at a wind speed of 6 m/s for each type of airfoil used is 51.94 kW for the NACA 2415 airfoil type, 51.8 kW for the DU 06 W 200 airfoil type, and 46.65 kW for the NACA 0015 airfoil type.
