This is due to several reasons, such as economic reasons (the rising price of oil and gas) and also the high intensity of traffic jams in those big cities. Beside those reasons, the environmental and health concerns also makes the community grows rapidly, more than 2000 are already registered in b2w-indonesia mailing list in Jakarta city and 1000 in Bandung. There are also more users that dont have the access to the Internet that use the bicycle as transportation to their daily job at the office. From the functions aspects, bicycling can be divided into two areas; the ones who use the bicycle for the transportation tools (basic needs) and those who use the bicycle as a sport/ hobby (recreational) purposes. If we look deeper, there are also some reasons why this community grows, such as existence, proud ness, gadgetry or just plain environmentalist.

The hypothesis is that the correct behavior designs of bicycle products will suits the usage and

environmentally friendly concepts in Indonesia. Bicycles have more than 100 years of development and usage, and are mature in design and engineering. But from the preliminary observations, the types of bicycles that used by those communities that grows rapidly in big

cities in Indonesia, are mountain bikes that dont suit the terrain and functions. There are also problems such as traffic, parking, practicality and ergonomics.

Trough this design report, writer will try to make a design alternative, which can fulfill the needs and requirement based by real problems. This design will conform to designs standards such as function, ergonomics, production, safety, economy and maintainability. Besides that, this alternative design hopefully can bring visions to the decision makers and support the bicycle users with better regulations, traffics, roads and parking space, safety etc. text
