Description
Summary:Mud filtrate invasion is a phenomenon in drilling activity which highly influence the quality of hydrocarbon production of a formation. One factor influencing mud filtrate invasion is hydrostatic pressure as the function of mud density, pushing the filtrate into formation due to differential pressure between borehole and reservoir while attempting overbalance drilling operation. Reservoir simulation used in this study in purpose to clearly describe mud filtrate invasion generation in formation which further can be seen the impact to production of oil reservoir. The software utilized is Computer Modelling Group (CMG) which able to create the reservoir model in three dimension with vertical well placed in the middle of reservoir. This study is conducted to give integrated analysis of whole petroleum engineering expertise which are drilling engineering, well testing, and production engineering especially in phenomenon of mud filtrate invasion influence to the productivity of a formation in surface. Besides that, can be quantitatively measured productivity of a formation as impact of formation damage due to drilling mud filtrate as directly influenced by density. At the end, worst effect may be resulted which formation cannot be produced after the swabbing has been attempted due to severe mud filtrate invasion on that formation.
