Description
Summary:One of the water resource technologies that are often used for managing water is the weir. Common types of barrier structures that exist in many countries are weirs and barrages. Weirs are usually made from masonry, reinforced concrete, or a combination of both. Currently, new technology is being developed by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in 2018, namely Modular Weir Technology, which uses interlocking concrete blocks. This modular weir technology has several advantages compared to massive weirs, including the strength of the structure and the adaptation to downstream riverbed changes. The structure is divided into several segments, cheaper, faster, and easier to implement. However, until now, no standard can be used as a reference for this modular weir design. This study aims to obtain the design parameters of a modular weir, such as discharge coefficient and energy dissipation parameter, to be used as a reference in planning and design. The method used in this study includes the primary and secondary data collections through the physical model test. The analysis results in this study indicate that modular weirs that use concrete blocks have a smaller discharge coefficient compared to massive weirs. The C and Cd coefficients are 1,86 and 1,10 respectively. This value can be used to design a modular weir and obtain the energy height using the discharge formula. MDO graph can be used for determining the criteria for energy dissipation. The research results show that the performance is more effective than massive weirs, indicating the smaller downstream scouring.
