Description
Summary:Stress is one of the psychological responses in the form of discomfort feelings experienced by humans due to the pressure they face. Stress can afflict children and adolescents as well as adults, caused by triggering factors from the academic environment. If ignored, stress at an early age will trigger serious physical illness and mental disorders in adulthood, and can also affect learning quality due to students' degression of focus and creativity. Psychological disorders treatment in Indonesia is currently facing some problems, such as public stigma towards mental illness and the lack of mental health facilitators, while the prevalence number of psychological disorders is still increasing. These problems will be the main issues in designing a creative arts center project for children and adolescents. The main objective of this project is to provide recreation and non-formal education that facilitates children and adolescents to relieve their minds so as to avoid the emergence of severe physical and psychological disorders. This project consists of creative center and library typology with facilities including exhibition rooms, workshops, therapy facilities, and co-working spaces. The project is located in the Kota Baru Parahyangan, West Bandung Regency which borders Saguling Lake as a good natural potential to support main vision of this project. The main design concept of this project is “A Healing Realm: Unity of Nature, Art, and Minds”, integrating artistic activities with natural elements surrounding the project, while also considering psychological and social developments of the user as some important design aspects. These ideas are then formulated into design strategies towards mass forms, interior spaces, and landscape compositions that can ignite creativity as well as to help user's physical and psychological recovery process during activities in this project.
