This study aims to analyze the determinants of reducing the presence of illegal dumping points in Samarinda City, identify the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and practices towards illegal dumping, and conclude the motivation of the community to take illegal dumping. This study used a cluster random sampling method through a structured questionnaire to 363 respondents. The questionnaire consists of 6 questions of knowledge, 7 attitudes, and 3 practices. Observations show that there are illegal waste disposal practices such as throwing waste into rivers, vacant land, roadsides, and also open burning garbage. The output of linear regression analysis shows that there are relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and practices with illegal waste disposal. Factor analysis forms 2 factors, the first consists of all components of knowledge, attitudes, and practices except urgency which is the second factor. Cluster analysis shows that the first two clusters consist of people with good knowledge, good attitudes, and good practices, while the second cluster is people who have bad knowledge, bad attitudes, and bad practices. The most influential factors on illegal dumping are knowledge of the impact of waste on the environment, knowledge of the impact of waste on health, attitude of responsibility towards waste, the attitude of commitment to cleanliness, the practice of open burning, and practice illegal dumping. Meanwhile, the dominant factors influencing the point of illegal dumping are the attitude of the respondents, the level of education, the amount of expenses, the point of collection points, the difference in volume, the ratio, and the perpetrators of illegal dumping. text |
