This is the basic reason that rig shall has proper standard and specification for drilling operation such as on American Petroleum Institute (API) Recommended Practices, not only on technical stuff but also on safety for workers. Drilling operation will be interrupted by the malfunction of equipment and systems, or by the lack of workers competency. These interruptions can increase Non Productive Time (NPT), which results to the inefficient of rig rental cost. In addition, these things can trigger accidents in drilling and well servicing operations. Definitely, prevention of those accidents is a major concern and it can be implemented by doing a rig inspection. Rig inspection is applied during purchasing the rig or before operation of the rig to ensure the reliability, safety and environmental impact stated on Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) of drilling operations. Rig inspection, an integrative system, does not only consist of visual inspection of equipment availability on the rig, but also certification of the equipment, reliability testing of the equipment, standard compliance of the equipment, and qualification or competency of workers. This study establishes an integrated method of onshore rig inspection and compares it with a study case. The integrated method of rig inspection is checked with international widely used standards, such as API, OSHA, and American National Standard Institute (ANSI). The purpose of this study is to establish an integrated method of rig inspection, which can be implemented on the field. The result of this rig inspection method is it can be implemented to minimize the occurrence of interruption on equipment and system, also prevent undesirable accidents on drilling operation. text |
