An antenna is presented with a compact size, light-weight, low cost, and easy to integrate with other electronic devices to ensure communication can run flawlessly. In this study, a microstrip antenna was integrated with a Substrate Integrated Waveguide (SIW). The integration of the SIW structure is intended to obtain a waveguide-based array slot antenna for WLAN applications. The design of the SIW slot antenna operates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The SIW slot antenna has a total thickness of 1.6 mm with dimensions of 376 mm x 40 mm. The proposed SIW Slot antenna uses an FR4 epoxy dielectric substrate by using a microstrip line feeding through the SMA connector. The SIW slot antenna has 8 longitudinal slots with non-uniform slot lengths to improve radiation characteristics. The measurement results of the SIW-based slot array antenna show the bandwidth achieved 92 MHz with a frequency range of 2.323 GHz to 2.415 GHz with dimensions of 378 mm x 38 mm. Meanwhile, the gain resulted from the non-uniform slot length is 4.07 dBi. text |
