The Senen area has a long history, being the center of entertainment and arts of Jakarta decades ago. In this area also stands one of the oldest cinemas in Jakarta, namely the Grand Theater Cinema. For years before finally ceasing operations in 2016, this cinema experienced a degrade in image and function. And now, the film industry in Indonesia continues to increase every year. Not only that, with the increasing activity of the Indonesian film industry, the activities held around the film also increase and therefore creates the need of space for collaboration. The image and function degradation of the Senen area can be addressed through a revitalization project in this area. The Grand Theater Cinema was chosen as a revitalized location, and it is relevant to another major issue in this project, which is the limited space that can accommodate film activities. This project aims to improve the image and function of the Senen area as an arts area in Jakarta, and to accommodate film activities in Jakarta. The goals will be achieved through the revitalization project of the Grand Theater Cinema into a film collaboration space, by providing a physical space that can connect all film elements, from filmmakers, communities, and movie goers. The Senen area is now different, but through this project, the spirit of the Senen area will be revived through the revitalization of the Grand Theater Cinema into a film collaboration space that accommodates film activities in Jakarta. Issues regarding image enhancement and function, spontaneity, permeability, and film collaboration spaces will be facilitated through this project
