INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/59629 Daylighting has many benefits for the physical, mental, and pyschological health of students at school. However, in Indonesia, design of daylight-friendly classrooms have never been given enough attention. One of the main reasons behind this situation is the lack of research that focuses on continous annual daylight penetration at schools. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a daylighting optimization study of school classrooms, using Climate Based Daylight Modelling that relies on dynamic daylight metrics. Furthermore, the optimum designs of daylight apertures and external shading systems are proposed for hypothetical classrooms. In this study, a parametric optimization simulation algorithm based on the hypothetical model with bilateral opening type was incorporated under the Tregenza-Perez All Weather sky model. The software used were Honeybee Legacy as a geometry declarator and Honeybee [+] to run the simulations. Optimization by means of CMAES and RBFOPT was carried out 4 times with 200 iterations each, using Opossum plugin. The sorted optimization results showed classroom models equipped with daylight aperture systems and external shading devices satisfied the criteria of LEED v4 and LM 83-12. The best solution was obtained using RBFOPT optimization. Further statistical analysis showed non-linearity and stochastic properties of the solution, so that the use of deterministic models was not recommended in this case. In general, the simulation methodology and optimization proposed could be applied for buildings with bilateral opening type located in tropical rainforest (Af) and tropical monsoon (Aw) climate areas. text |
