The dense population in DKI Jakarta causes a high level of heterogeneity, resulting in conflict from vulnerability and social concerns, especially in West Jakarta and Central Jakarta. School-age children from marginalized community are vulnerable due to the impact of these problems. Many of them end up dropping out of school because of economic factors, and their neighborhood factors. In this project, a learning center will be designed as a non-formal educational institution that specifically reaches school-age children. This learning center is a fictitious project from an expansion project of a government program within the Community Learning Center (PKBM) and can be used as an opportunity for all groups of people to fulfill their basic right to access education. Duri Pulo Village in Gambir is the location chosen as the project site. The reason for placing this project because this area is the border between Gambir District in Central Jakarta and Tambora District in West Jakarta and has problems according to the issues raised, and the affordability of the area that supports teaching and learning activities. The exact location of the project is on Jalan Subur Baru, Duri Pulo, Central Jakarta, with a land area of ??6,415 m2. PKBM as a non-formal educational institution provides training for the community that can improve formal education with the aim of improving the quality of human resources and improving the quality of people's lives. In designing this project, the design issue is creating a learning environment that encourages learning motivation for the marginalized and involves the community base in supporting learning activities. Likewise, the problem that was raised was to create cheap buildings without reducing quality that could last a long time. Therefore, the design applies the concept of "Rural in the Middle of the City" as a form of returning to nature in fulfill the needs of life that is able to solve all design problems.
